Hi, how are you doing. I bought a JLS#12 tone ring from you a while back, and I put it on a 24 block rim made out of 350 year old growth maple (not submerged) and its a CANNON. I love your tone ring evaluation letter. I'm always trying to learn as much as I can about the banjo, not only playing it. I check your web site frequently and looking forward to seeing more letters. Thanks for the info and have a nice day, Ron....

Hi Janet! Just a note to let you know that the JLS tone ring worked out great and I love the change that it made in the sound of my Fender plectrum banjo. The sound is great. Since I'm a woodturner,it only took me a short time on the wood lathe to fit up the tone ring to the rim. Thanks for your help!! Charles H

Janet, I want to tell you that the JLS #4 tone ring I purchased from you turned my good banjo into an incredible instrument. I was hoping for a noticeable improvement and got more than what I expected. I am extremely pleased with the quality of tone and the power it delivers. Allen

Just a line to say thanks , Janet, for the my order that was processed very promptly, and to say the Kulesh tonering I received was everything you said it was. I never heard such clear upper neck notes before. and the bass is just as good. The volume is so much better than before. Thanks again, I enjoy picking so much more now. Brent K

Fitting the tonering was a breeze and it sounds really rich and sweet with just a hint of a bark... ...and I've got the whole weekend to get it played in... -------- After a weekend's playing you can add to my previous comments... "...its got good volume and it really projects." It's fitted to a bit of a hybrid - a d.i.y."tonebell" rim (thanks to Bill Palmer), with a 5-star head and a Gibson Epiphone neck. Andy

You are very welcome to use my comments on your web page.

And It would be my pleasure to have you use some of my JLS comments. I would like the world to know more about them.

You might be interested to know that I just finished a banjo and delivered it to the customer. He is a major festival promoter and has produced some records.

I used the JLS 4 and for the first time used a new Remo head with it., which I hate. The banjo is a maple version of a 4 except it has my brand.

I still cant believe the sound. It had that dry hollow JD sound and incredible power. This was the guy who likes archtops. So I adjusted the head more than medium tight but still not Doug Dillard tight. If the thing was looser there is no telling what he might get from that banjo. I talked to him this week and he is very happy. He realized he has a prize there and his Earl Scruggs with a Huber can't compare.

You asked about Tennessee 20 tone rings, I think I had the first one in Japan on a new made banjo. Bill Sullivan had just received them and he offered to send me one on approval.

I used them for a few years until I discovered the JLS. I still use them when someone asks or really has a thing for the bass response. They were a tone ring that really helped establish myself over here. And I feel very safe using them, a guaranteed good banjo. Set up is very critical and no forgiving if you get the tonering fit wrong or the rim rods with tension. But get it right and oh boy.

All for now. Best wishes to you. Scott
